Insomnia is IN!!

Dear Smudgers,

My absence cannot be explained. The roller coaster of emotion and events since my last post seems like almost a lifetime ago, yet only the other day. Maybe it's good to get back to you guys after all this time, in the middle of the night when my mind just can't stop tossing and turning.

Maybe it's the bed-time monsters that have me startled?! Or the never ending problems of growing up?

Today I turned to my little sister and (perhaps it as due to watching "Blow" the other night that brought this to light) said, "Money is Evil". And I truly meant it; it seems to be all that's on my mind, in my conversations - and I hate it. Thinking and worrying about money makes me feel a little empty inside. Hell, even my last post to you Smudgers was about wealth!

My sincerest apologies.

But everything will work out. It always does. Whenever I say "I'll figure it out" whether I'm saying it on the phone or in a text, you have my word that I will figure that motherfu*k3r out 😋 it's the art of positive thinking or some crap that my beautiful mother harps on about..

"Read 'The Secret'!".... "I'll buy you the book about 'The Secret'!"....

I read the blurb and the first chapter and I'm pretty sure I got the jest of where they were going with it. Basically, if you keep thinking bad shit is going to happen then you might as well stick it on your Christmas List and wait for Santa's fat ass to find you :p I think if you want something bad enough, work hard enough for it- then it's yours! If you don't get it.. well I chalk it up to "everything happens for a reason". Damn straight.

** please do not comment with that whole "then why do natural disasters and bad things happen?!" bull - it's 5:07am and I'm not an "all-knowing" blogger with a third eye **

However...

SO TO WHOEVER IS DREAMING ABOUT ME... WAKE UP ALREADY!!!

Just a thought, does anyone remember when Bebo was gas and you could find this typography website from Google that would make your writing on Bebo all cool and shammy with like love-hearts and x's on the i's??

Oh I just remembered this is supposed to be a fashion blog ahhaha 😭 Well Smudgers I'm selling my personals on Facebook. Just go to the Freaky Smudge page (give it a like) and you should see a link to a page "Pre-Loved and Ready to Love Again" ( give it a like, a look and maybe a share) ❤️ Lovely vintage pieces and women's clothing and accessories to be put up there in the next few days 😊

Alright that's a wrap... Lord I'm starved!

Later Smudgers!
XOXO

Opulence

Howdy Smudgers,

Well it's been a life on the go without an exit route for the past couple of weeks but I wouldn't have it any other way! Well unless that other way included a complimentary vehicle because public transport can be a bitch of an expense :P

We all have that song that wakes us up in the mornings or we find ourselves singing along in our mirrors to, and mine has to be 'Opulence' by Brooke Candy.

[op-yuh-luh ns]

noun
1.
wealth, riches, or affluence.
2.
abundance, as of resources or goods; plenty.
3.    the state of being opulent.

Opulence is the word used to describe the type of lifestyle enjoyed by the aristocrats and monarchs before the French Revolution. And let's face it Smudgers, when we see the likes of the Kardashians and any other hot shot celeb that can spend money like toilet paper, while we hold up an entire queue at Costa just looking for change, we want Opulence. And we want it NOW!

Opulence was the theme at this years London FW A/W 15 <3 So today I've decided to dress like I'm already famous!
I'll post a pic to Instagram in a little bit, seeing as I'm writing this on a bus with 3% battery life :) But my beautiful black ballgown skirt is from Coast, my lace black high neck crop top is from H&M, and this mohair pink cardy I'm sporting is something I borrowed... without permission... and the owner will never know.... unless she sees my snapchat.... :/
As Brooke Candy's lyrics go;
I'm a grown queen, doing grown things    Tryna find my hand underneath the gold rings     Make you get in line    Better recognize opulence,     I own everything baby
So with my pair of Vintage sunnies from Public Romance, today I owe everything! :) Though mind you I feel less than opulent stuffing my face! Instagram (https://instagram.com/emmyjayne5/)
Now it's a lot easier to write that I'm finally home with a glass of wine :P
So how can we become opulent and just fecking fantastic! Well I devised a list of things that stereotypically all celebs do!
1. Wear $$$$ CLOTHES!!  Freaky Solution-> Ladies (and lads), all you need is an oversized pair of sunnies and some black clothes in your wardrobe! (remember, if you're good at lying, anything can be Chanel... well nothing Primark can!)
2. They down bottles of 'goose' :) Freaky Solution -> It's no goose but I cannot recommend enough the €3.99 Baron wine from Aidl. You're more likely to feel ever so opulent after the 2nd bottle.
3. They can afford high class coke... Freaky Solution -> if you find yourself off to Aidl for that wine then you probably can't afford the coke fund, BUT POWDERED DOUGHNUTS! (I'll never tell ;) ) Though that solution clashes hard with my next one..
4. They have rocking bodies.  Freaky Solution -> well I hear some people are working out and eating healthy but for us on (route to) the Opulent lifestyle we can just.. inhale all our nutrients from air... and stand outside the gym for a few hours, until you're satisfied a reasonable number of people have seen you!
5. Celebs PARTY HARD** Freaky Solution -> Now I'm a true believer that life's an adventure and most nights for me don't start until after 4am and there's a trolley involved (sometimes... all the time) but go out and talk to some strangers Smudgers! Just don't be stupid... ;) Don't be afraid to take risks but take the right ones and common sense should help you there.
6. They're groomed to perfection- Freaky Solution -> get yourselves on those living social/ groupon/ deal pages and you can get some unreal treatments for a third of the price :) or go on to youtube and D.I.Y. the crap out of yourself!
7. Big Accounts = Big Houses & Cars $ Freaky Solution -> no one cares like do you really care about the size of Paris Hilton's bathroom or if Justin Bieber's jeep takes petrol or diesel!? It's exactly like when guys put up pictures of their cars on social networks like Tinder, because I'm only swiping right if you've renewed your tax... :P
I've actually ran out of things, can't believe it ... but listen Smudgers, these people may gleam and glisten but their actions and personality speaks volumes just like yours!
So go out into this Freaky world with all it's deep hunger and insane fascinations, and shine <3
**If this post was a drinking game for every time I said opulence you would all be so drunk :)**
Well there's a little pic of me posing on Insta there so get following!!! :) Oh and for those in the Galway region of the world I am making two outfits for this year's Galway Technical Institute Annual Fashion Show ^_^ so hope to see some Smudgers there
Later Smudgers, stay shining
XOXO

When London Calls, Call it Back!!

Fully refreshed and ready for some serious action!! Yes Smudgers, those of you that follow me on Instagram (addicted or what!) will know that I spent the weekend getting a glimpse of some fashion personals and partying it up!!

Heading off to London was exactly what I needed after a tough time at college where I discovered last week that I, unfortunately, failed my first semester. Loyal Smudgers that keep up with me know that while I go to a highly praised Art and Design college... I fu^*king hate it. But just because you don't like something doesn't mean you shouldn't give it your all if it helps you go where you want to in life. Ask my friends and family - I worked my ass off but clearly that wasn't enough. So after some sorrow drowning of a liquid kind, I've decided that ya know what...

************THEY CAN KISS MY ASS AND WEAR MY CLOTHES**********

I don't how I'll do it my Smudgers but i promise you now that someday I'll be a great fashion designer. Hell, I might even win the Founders Award of the CFDA :)

If any of you are in the same boat as me, chin up guys! I know its tough and just a right pain in the ass but as long as you believe in yourself, play positive music, and don't give up on your dreams (no matter how "unrealistic" or "ridiculous" they may be).  If it helps any Smudger right now, send me a message or leave me a comment about your dreams and we can talk it out if you want :)
Freaky's here!

Anyway London ....

Well the hottest nightclub I've ever been too is situated in Leicester Square (or Street?!) and they call it Fabric. If anyone else has had the privilege of going to this ravers paradise then you know it's a jam packed night that never ends; full of loud bass drops and enough strobe lights to send you to Specsavers!!!! Needless to say that I ended up on stage with my friend, dancing til I needed to pee. Speaking of, those bathrooms are unisex and just plain weird.
Tip #1: To turn on the taps there's a button on the floor directly under the sink that you just stomp on and then the water flows.
Tip #2: Mind your phones. They have the staff wearing t-shirts urging phone safety and then the bouncers get you to unlock your phone in front of them before you leave. Just mind the bags ladies!
Tip #3: If you don't know how to dance, no worries. Everyone there is too off their faces to care :)
Tip #4: Quiet in the smoking area. Because people in London sleep (sometimes) bouncers and staff are forever telling you to "shhh.." as to not wake the neighbours. So don't piss them off!
Tip #5: Be prepared for some big £££ - it cost this Freaky Smudge £20 to get in, though maybe it was a special night or something. All drinks are £5 minimum and if you want to use your card at all its a £15 minimum.

What I'm trying to say in a roundabout way - GET YOUR BEE-HIND TO FABRIC ASAP!

London is a historical city, a fast-moving city, an ever-changing, diverse city. From the High Streets of Oxford Street to the trendy cafes in Soho, this is a place you must experience once. Big Ben, London Bridge and Buckingham Palace are all the well-known sites for tourists but hop on a tube to be momentarily transported to someplace new. If you want quirky vintage treasures take a stroll down Portobello market, or hop on the Northern Line to Camden for their markets and artsy atmosphere.
There's so much to do in London, and it's surprising what you can fit in in a day if you don't sleep lol :P But I guarantee you'll need like two weeks there if you wanted to see and properly enjoy everything, and then you would have to come back a week later to take in all the new stuff that crops up. Whether you stumble upon an Italian tea maker, a palm reader or you see a lad piss himself in the underground station (thank God I was on the opposite platform), there's something for everyone! :)

For all you fashionistas out there, the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Exhibition is hitting the public this March so get your tickets! And of course the place is still hyped up after Fashion Week last week. So who was the designer that spoke to you the most?? Who did you love?? Who did you hate?? That's what I love about fashion kids; everyone has a style and a story to tell. London is a big part of Fashion History too. It was the birthplace of vintage Fashion shop, Biba, which was iconic in the 60's and 70's. Mary Quant (Mother of the Mini) had her shops in London. Vivienne Westwood opened her shop 'SEX' (formerly known as "Let It Rock") in London which was a haven for the Punk era.

Keep up with Freaky little me on twitter, blogger, bloglovin, facebook, instagram.... or email :P

Kick start in the bee- hind! :)

Welcome to 2014; please make sure your helmets and life jackets are securely fastened on your person!

How was your New Years kids? Mine was unexpected to say the least but just like I told a drunk friend "It's not how you start the year sweetie, it's what you make of it" - So corny but I hope it hits home for some of ye that need it! :)

Maybe you're like me; you enjoy the winter but the idea of summer is just too delicious. This summer I want to work (translation: I want money!). Yes, money and experience! I'm an ambitious person and the more I know the better :P And there's also one other thing on my mind, planted there by my friends, and I'm just a tad excited; FESTIVALS ^_^
To name one in particular, Benicassim. Probably one of the hottest places to be this summer! 4 days of sweet summer jams, with sun, water parks, and all the cheap goodies one can dream of! To be honest though I don't know much about Benicassim - small town off the east coast of Spain, 2 hours drive from Barcelona, 20th anniversary of the music festival which takes place there every summer.... And my knowledge ends there! When going to a festival there are many factors involved which people just seem to overlook completely, so I'm going to try cover all I can in this blog! :) If I miss out on anything feel free comment below! These can be applied to pretty much every festival situation!

1. Where? and When?- You want to choose the perfect place to party this summer! Whether it's Tomorrowland in Belgium or Benicassim in Spain. But you have to think of your chosen location, because Spain or Ibiza in the middle of summer is not going to be cheap! So take this into consideration because if flights are high you may want to row to your destination... And I'd start now!

2. Best sites for Flights - I found that eDreams.com was a good website when looking for flights. It also helps to look at using different airlines on your to and from journeys. http://www.edreams.com

3. Packing - If you're a girl like me then it isn't easy to pack because you can literally think of an outfit to suit any time/ mood of the day! :P But one major fact you need to remember is that there will be 0 electricity! You will be camping, you will be smelly, and you will have a hard time trying to wash your hair! So pack light; if it a sun setting you're interested in, well you can wear the same bikini top a few times (I don't think E! is watching!) and there's no point bringing heels!
*** Remember these essentials ->> Dry Shampoo + Baby wipes + Sun screen <<- ***

4. Camping and your tent - If you're purchasing a tent with, let's say, 4 friends, the buy a 5/6 person tent to give yourselves more room! Maybe you've seen the long, tall flags that are usually placed at the back of go-karts - buy one! These can be used beside/ on top of your tent (hopefully it won't get stolen :/ ), or in the antenna of your car if you're driving. Just a suggestion but I think it could work! Some camp sites can be mucky, Oxegen is a regular for that! Before getting into your tent, I suggest placed some smooth, wide blanks of wood down for ye to sleep on; keep you nice and dry, and away from all the creepy crawlies - ugh I hate camping!

5. The experience - It's easy to think of it as yourself and your friends hanging around, listening to music and dancing in a crowd, but there are thousands of people! Thousands of people that are there with their friends, dancing and shouting - crowded to say the least. So I suggest that you and your friends come up with a meeting point so you can find each other if one gets lost. Stick to your itinerary!!! If you told your friends you're going to see some band or whatever, then go! If they need you they'll need to know where to find you, and most likely you won't have a phone because you're battery would be dead. It's sort of like when you're 5 years old and you get lost in a supermarket, separated from your parents - if you lose your friends, you will be slightly freaked, and even if you say "uh no! Not me, I'd be fine", would you really like to put a friend in that situation?? So for everyone's sake; find a meeting point, make a plan and stick to it!

6. What you got there? - No I'm not talking about drugs (stay away from them!). I'm talking about how maybe you or one of your friends have decided to bring an expensive Nikon camera to take the most memorable pics with! - I'm telling you right now it's either going to get damaged or stolen! Why not bring some disposable cameras instead :) And sure you'd look great in your $500 shorts/ top, but Penneys merchandise is just as good!! I completely understand the want to look good and everything, but no one is going to want to see your mascara run while you argue with the security about your lost goods!

7. Things you'll hear your mother say - Just be careful guys! While festivals are fun and good craic, there's also a lot of weirdos around. Be cautious of who you talk to, and don't bring valuables (just no point!). In countries like Spain or Croatia, alcohol can be cheap as chips. So before you go out, eat a meal! And know when to stop drinking; go on the water for a while. Don't be an idiot - sure you want to let loose and be free, etc., but think! And maybe take an extra day to recover before heading off home, if you have to drive or catch a plane with a throbbing hangover, you will hate the world!!!

Well that is all from me my lovelies and I do hope my tips helped! If you have any tips of your own please leave them in the comments :)
XOXO

Tell Me Something I Don't Know!

heya Smudgers!!! Or freaky follower??? (we'll work on that later...)

How is everyone?? Getting ready for Christmas??? I love Christmas so much! :) When the lights go up in Galway city - it's Christmas. When the Christmas market comes to town - it's Christmas. When that ancient old Kellogg's ad comes on telly - it's Christmas.
Fun Fact: The little blonde girl from the Kellogg's ad had a small part in Mean Girls!

Anyways, I finished my recycled garment project (a very important part of my course!) and it will soon be in the windows of the GTI Fashion Building but it's not there yet, will let you know! It looks like a wedding dress.... ok fine it's a wedding dress! Originally a flower girl dress I wore in 2006, and with a dash of inspiration from Zac Posen, I created a wedding dress. Definitely not a traditional one! In the fashion show in April I'm going to copy the Dior "Enchanted Forest" look where the models have material over their faces and put black lace over my models face when she's wearing the dress. Before that thought crosses your mind; She is a very pretty girl!!! So apparently, back in the day, you were supposed to wear black if you were not a virgin when you got married, so this is kind of my modern take on the whole situation because let's face it; nowadays you're most likely gonna wanna test drive the car before you buy it ;)
I want it to be classy, modern, powerful - But my teacher suggested I sew buttons onto the bow at the front and now it looks childish but also "cute and playful" - not what I'm going for Miss!

Anyways tomorrow GTI is celebrating it's 75th Birthday :) there will be cupcakes, clothes, and loads of other things going on on the day, which is open to the public, to celebrate this event! All profits made will go to the Lifeboats Charity in Galway so if you need to get into some Christmas spirit and give a little, come on down! And this Freaky Smudger will be on the radio - yes IMMA BE ON THE RADIO MOM!!! :P My teacher asked me today of I wanted to talk on Galway Bay fm about the Level 5 Fashion Design course and I said "uhhh... sure!?!" I'm actually really chuffed and looking forward to it! Will be on between 12:00 and 12:30 so if you have a radio or some form of technology where you can listen in, please do! I really hope I don't mess up :/ It could go like this:
Presenter: "So are you enjoying the course?"
Me: "MY FAVOURITE COLOUR IS PURPLE!"
........................................................................................ damn girl!

Tomorrow is a very eventful day indeed  - kicking off at 5:30 pm in The Stock Exchange on Shop Street is "STYLE IN THE CITY!" https://www.facebook.com/events/169313123274149/184937338378394/?notif_t=plan_mall_activity - open to the public, great night guaranteed! :)
Drinks, clothes, fashion show - you'd be mad not to go!! I can't wait to get ready and head off!
I have this cool 80's dress that I got at the kilo sale in Public Romance recently and I really wan to wear it but I wore it on Saturday at Pandora's Box..... Think I can get away with it???

Stepping away from fashion for a second - Our Pope is class :) Yes people the new Pope in the Vatican, Francis I, used to be a bouncer in a nightclub (so be nice to every bouncer now because the next one to throw you out of a nightclub may just be the next Pope!). He also used to Tango with his ex-girlfriend! And sneaks out regularly to give money to the poor of Rome <3 Gotta love this guy, you don't even need to be religious to love this guy!

Anyways I will be posting pics of all the activities of tomorrow :) So that's a hint to look at my Twitter and Facebook page - maybe you look at the page, maybe you follow/ like it!
Night freaky people!

The Movie's Always Better with You

Happy Halloween Everyone!
Guess I'm a little early but where to start!? This year I'm not all that crazy for dressing up so I might as well just go as myself without make-up because I am a NIGHTMARE! Few that have see me without make-up have lived to tell the tale..
What are you going to dress up as???

Finally it's Mid-term break and I've the week off but I'm doing work experience so there's not that much lying around :( today has been my ass-on-couch day and it has been fab doing sweet feck all! As God intended haha! This past week at GTI we had to create a collection for a shop we would like to design for, and I picked one of my favourite online shops; Bitching and Junkfood (http://www.bitchingandjunkfood.com/index.php). If you haven't checked them out - DO! I love Bitching and Junkfood, not only for the name, but the clothes are amazing! Bright colours, spectacular patterns and so much more!

This week we have to watch some movies, not all of them, and create another collection inspired by these movies :) Here's a taste of what to watch for fashion lovers like uuz and the times in which they are set;
1900's: Titantic (1912)
My Fair Lady (costumes by Cecil Beaton)
1920's: The Great Gatsby (2013)
The Artist
Chicago
1930's: Atonement
1940's: The Great Man's Lady (1942)
Mildred Pierce (1945)
One Touch of Venus (1948)
1950's: Grease (made in 70's)
Breakfast at Tiffany's and A Roman Holiday (costumes by Givenchy)
The Bad and the Beautiful (One of my favs :) ) (1952)
1960's: Mad Men (TV Series)
Early Bond Movies
1970's: Almost Famous (1973) (hippy)
Saturday Night Fever (disco)
Sid and Nancy (punk)
Austin Powers
1980's: Flashdance
Desperately Seeking Susan
Pretty Woman
1990's: Clueless
2000's: Sex and the City (TV Series)

Last night I watched 'Almost Famous' and loved it! The fashion was good but I really liked the story-line, don't worry I won't spoil it. If you find the time to watch these (not all of them lol) please let me know what you think of them! I've seen a good nine of these so far :)

Well I'm going to go now and will keep in touch... Not doing so well for that lately :/
Have a good one!
