Insomnia is IN!!

Dear Smudgers,

My absence cannot be explained. The roller coaster of emotion and events since my last post seems like almost a lifetime ago, yet only the other day. Maybe it's good to get back to you guys after all this time, in the middle of the night when my mind just can't stop tossing and turning.

Maybe it's the bed-time monsters that have me startled?! Or the never ending problems of growing up?

Today I turned to my little sister and (perhaps it as due to watching "Blow" the other night that brought this to light) said, "Money is Evil". And I truly meant it; it seems to be all that's on my mind, in my conversations - and I hate it. Thinking and worrying about money makes me feel a little empty inside. Hell, even my last post to you Smudgers was about wealth!

My sincerest apologies.

But everything will work out. It always does. Whenever I say "I'll figure it out" whether I'm saying it on the phone or in a text, you have my word that I will figure that motherfu*k3r out 😋 it's the art of positive thinking or some crap that my beautiful mother harps on about..

"Read 'The Secret'!".... "I'll buy you the book about 'The Secret'!"....

I read the blurb and the first chapter and I'm pretty sure I got the jest of where they were going with it. Basically, if you keep thinking bad shit is going to happen then you might as well stick it on your Christmas List and wait for Santa's fat ass to find you :p I think if you want something bad enough, work hard enough for it- then it's yours! If you don't get it.. well I chalk it up to "everything happens for a reason". Damn straight.

** please do not comment with that whole "then why do natural disasters and bad things happen?!" bull - it's 5:07am and I'm not an "all-knowing" blogger with a third eye **

However...

SO TO WHOEVER IS DREAMING ABOUT ME... WAKE UP ALREADY!!!

Just a thought, does anyone remember when Bebo was gas and you could find this typography website from Google that would make your writing on Bebo all cool and shammy with like love-hearts and x's on the i's??

Oh I just remembered this is supposed to be a fashion blog ahhaha 😭 Well Smudgers I'm selling my personals on Facebook. Just go to the Freaky Smudge page (give it a like) and you should see a link to a page "Pre-Loved and Ready to Love Again" ( give it a like, a look and maybe a share) ❤️ Lovely vintage pieces and women's clothing and accessories to be put up there in the next few days 😊

Alright that's a wrap... Lord I'm starved!

Later Smudgers!
XOXO

Opulence

Howdy Smudgers,

Well it's been a life on the go without an exit route for the past couple of weeks but I wouldn't have it any other way! Well unless that other way included a complimentary vehicle because public transport can be a bitch of an expense :P

We all have that song that wakes us up in the mornings or we find ourselves singing along in our mirrors to, and mine has to be 'Opulence' by Brooke Candy.

[op-yuh-luh ns]

noun
1.
wealth, riches, or affluence.
2.
abundance, as of resources or goods; plenty.
3.    the state of being opulent.

Opulence is the word used to describe the type of lifestyle enjoyed by the aristocrats and monarchs before the French Revolution. And let's face it Smudgers, when we see the likes of the Kardashians and any other hot shot celeb that can spend money like toilet paper, while we hold up an entire queue at Costa just looking for change, we want Opulence. And we want it NOW!

Opulence was the theme at this years London FW A/W 15 <3 So today I've decided to dress like I'm already famous!
I'll post a pic to Instagram in a little bit, seeing as I'm writing this on a bus with 3% battery life :) But my beautiful black ballgown skirt is from Coast, my lace black high neck crop top is from H&M, and this mohair pink cardy I'm sporting is something I borrowed... without permission... and the owner will never know.... unless she sees my snapchat.... :/
As Brooke Candy's lyrics go;
I'm a grown queen, doing grown things    Tryna find my hand underneath the gold rings     Make you get in line    Better recognize opulence,     I own everything baby
So with my pair of Vintage sunnies from Public Romance, today I owe everything! :) Though mind you I feel less than opulent stuffing my face! Instagram (https://instagram.com/emmyjayne5/)
Now it's a lot easier to write that I'm finally home with a glass of wine :P
So how can we become opulent and just fecking fantastic! Well I devised a list of things that stereotypically all celebs do!
1. Wear $$$$ CLOTHES!!  Freaky Solution-> Ladies (and lads), all you need is an oversized pair of sunnies and some black clothes in your wardrobe! (remember, if you're good at lying, anything can be Chanel... well nothing Primark can!)
2. They down bottles of 'goose' :) Freaky Solution -> It's no goose but I cannot recommend enough the €3.99 Baron wine from Aidl. You're more likely to feel ever so opulent after the 2nd bottle.
3. They can afford high class coke... Freaky Solution -> if you find yourself off to Aidl for that wine then you probably can't afford the coke fund, BUT POWDERED DOUGHNUTS! (I'll never tell ;) ) Though that solution clashes hard with my next one..
4. They have rocking bodies.  Freaky Solution -> well I hear some people are working out and eating healthy but for us on (route to) the Opulent lifestyle we can just.. inhale all our nutrients from air... and stand outside the gym for a few hours, until you're satisfied a reasonable number of people have seen you!
5. Celebs PARTY HARD** Freaky Solution -> Now I'm a true believer that life's an adventure and most nights for me don't start until after 4am and there's a trolley involved (sometimes... all the time) but go out and talk to some strangers Smudgers! Just don't be stupid... ;) Don't be afraid to take risks but take the right ones and common sense should help you there.
6. They're groomed to perfection- Freaky Solution -> get yourselves on those living social/ groupon/ deal pages and you can get some unreal treatments for a third of the price :) or go on to youtube and D.I.Y. the crap out of yourself!
7. Big Accounts = Big Houses & Cars $ Freaky Solution -> no one cares like do you really care about the size of Paris Hilton's bathroom or if Justin Bieber's jeep takes petrol or diesel!? It's exactly like when guys put up pictures of their cars on social networks like Tinder, because I'm only swiping right if you've renewed your tax... :P
I've actually ran out of things, can't believe it ... but listen Smudgers, these people may gleam and glisten but their actions and personality speaks volumes just like yours!
So go out into this Freaky world with all it's deep hunger and insane fascinations, and shine <3
**If this post was a drinking game for every time I said opulence you would all be so drunk :)**
Well there's a little pic of me posing on Insta there so get following!!! :) Oh and for those in the Galway region of the world I am making two outfits for this year's Galway Technical Institute Annual Fashion Show ^_^ so hope to see some Smudgers there
Later Smudgers, stay shining
XOXO

When London Calls, Call it Back!!

Fully refreshed and ready for some serious action!! Yes Smudgers, those of you that follow me on Instagram (addicted or what!) will know that I spent the weekend getting a glimpse of some fashion personals and partying it up!!

Heading off to London was exactly what I needed after a tough time at college where I discovered last week that I, unfortunately, failed my first semester. Loyal Smudgers that keep up with me know that while I go to a highly praised Art and Design college... I fu^*king hate it. But just because you don't like something doesn't mean you shouldn't give it your all if it helps you go where you want to in life. Ask my friends and family - I worked my ass off but clearly that wasn't enough. So after some sorrow drowning of a liquid kind, I've decided that ya know what...

************THEY CAN KISS MY ASS AND WEAR MY CLOTHES**********

I don't how I'll do it my Smudgers but i promise you now that someday I'll be a great fashion designer. Hell, I might even win the Founders Award of the CFDA :)

If any of you are in the same boat as me, chin up guys! I know its tough and just a right pain in the ass but as long as you believe in yourself, play positive music, and don't give up on your dreams (no matter how "unrealistic" or "ridiculous" they may be).  If it helps any Smudger right now, send me a message or leave me a comment about your dreams and we can talk it out if you want :)
Freaky's here!

Anyway London ....

Well the hottest nightclub I've ever been too is situated in Leicester Square (or Street?!) and they call it Fabric. If anyone else has had the privilege of going to this ravers paradise then you know it's a jam packed night that never ends; full of loud bass drops and enough strobe lights to send you to Specsavers!!!! Needless to say that I ended up on stage with my friend, dancing til I needed to pee. Speaking of, those bathrooms are unisex and just plain weird.
Tip #1: To turn on the taps there's a button on the floor directly under the sink that you just stomp on and then the water flows.
Tip #2: Mind your phones. They have the staff wearing t-shirts urging phone safety and then the bouncers get you to unlock your phone in front of them before you leave. Just mind the bags ladies!
Tip #3: If you don't know how to dance, no worries. Everyone there is too off their faces to care :)
Tip #4: Quiet in the smoking area. Because people in London sleep (sometimes) bouncers and staff are forever telling you to "shhh.." as to not wake the neighbours. So don't piss them off!
Tip #5: Be prepared for some big £££ - it cost this Freaky Smudge £20 to get in, though maybe it was a special night or something. All drinks are £5 minimum and if you want to use your card at all its a £15 minimum.

What I'm trying to say in a roundabout way - GET YOUR BEE-HIND TO FABRIC ASAP!

London is a historical city, a fast-moving city, an ever-changing, diverse city. From the High Streets of Oxford Street to the trendy cafes in Soho, this is a place you must experience once. Big Ben, London Bridge and Buckingham Palace are all the well-known sites for tourists but hop on a tube to be momentarily transported to someplace new. If you want quirky vintage treasures take a stroll down Portobello market, or hop on the Northern Line to Camden for their markets and artsy atmosphere.
There's so much to do in London, and it's surprising what you can fit in in a day if you don't sleep lol :P But I guarantee you'll need like two weeks there if you wanted to see and properly enjoy everything, and then you would have to come back a week later to take in all the new stuff that crops up. Whether you stumble upon an Italian tea maker, a palm reader or you see a lad piss himself in the underground station (thank God I was on the opposite platform), there's something for everyone! :)

For all you fashionistas out there, the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Exhibition is hitting the public this March so get your tickets! And of course the place is still hyped up after Fashion Week last week. So who was the designer that spoke to you the most?? Who did you love?? Who did you hate?? That's what I love about fashion kids; everyone has a style and a story to tell. London is a big part of Fashion History too. It was the birthplace of vintage Fashion shop, Biba, which was iconic in the 60's and 70's. Mary Quant (Mother of the Mini) had her shops in London. Vivienne Westwood opened her shop 'SEX' (formerly known as "Let It Rock") in London which was a haven for the Punk era.

Keep up with Freaky little me on twitter, blogger, bloglovin, facebook, instagram.... or email :P

Love Aftermath

Well Smudgers,

how are we all? Enjoying the rain after Valentine's Day? ;)

Ya know it's not so bad; you're either ....
a) single (with the options of excess sorrow drowning drinking or pizza with friends or YOU HAVE OTHER CRAP TO DO THAN THINK OF VALENTINES DAY!)
Or ....
b) taken (with an extra side dish of goofy PDA or YOU COMPLETELY FORGOT IT WAS VALENTINES DAY BECAUSE OF THAT OTHER CRAP CALLED LIFE and you were last minute preparing!)

I know it's been quite a while since my last post where I was off to the Style in the City 2 event where there was style from....

**Cotton Face (http://cotton-face.com/) where owner Sinead Lally invites you into a treasure chest of quirky costume jewellery and friendly price-tags. The shop is located along the beach in Spiddal, Galway. Once loved vintage attire and cool alternatives are all over this place :) From faux fur Parisian coats to flowy short-shorts, I can't think of a more adventurous shopping trip!!

**Harper (http://www.harper.ie/) on Elington Street in Galway holds within its doors an array of styles. Here you can turn any simple girls night out to ladies in the city! The aim for this store is unique and new with stock sourcing from a few places, you may know them; New York, L.A., Milan, London and Paris.

**Swamp (http://swampfashion.com/) is an 100% Irish-owned lifestyle hight street brand. It's quality fashion at its most affordable, from casual to classic wear. With new stock every week, catering from sizes 8 to 18, and exceptional customer service no wonder its a leading fashion retailer.

**Fiona Mangan Millinery (http://www.fionamangan.com/) award-winning milliner based in Athenry and a truely lovely woman. She holds the title of Ireland Accessories Designer in 2012 from the Kerry Fashion Awards, and in L.A. she claimed the Best Fascinator Award, in 2012 also. Zara Phillips is among one of the many Irish celebs who can be seen in one of these fascinating fantasies. Mangan's creations have been features on local and national newspapers and fashion magazines. She has stockists in Galway, London and Hong Kong - made for Strong, Unyielding females that dare to wear!

**Flea Style Market (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Flea-Style-Market/328499153887335). Having worked at the Flea Style Market with Sinead Lally for two years (my "in" into Fashion <3 ) this monthly gem is funkiest indoor flea market. Located at the Electric Factory on Lower Abbeygate Street in Galway, popular vintage sellers from across Ireland can be found exchanging goods... for money though! The styles of the night were put together by Natalie McKeogh - her love and taste for vintage flare was evident that night, with a lovely patterned poncho and a maxi black dress with a turban and gold belt.

**Public Romance (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Public-Romance/196521403700625) located on Lower Abbeygate Street as well, run by Sinead Coughlan, who studied Fashion Design at LSAD. it aims to offer two unique fashion retail experiences with a selection of contemporary designer clothes and accessories downstairs and vintage 60's to 90's finds upstairs.

**Eureka (https://www.facebook.com/eurekapreloved) is a new kid on the block, found beside the post office in Salthill, Galway. It has established a reputation for innovative style and immaculate quality clothing. They have a wide range of sizes, and prices ( varying from €10 to €300!!). But whether its high street or high end pieces that you have a hunger for, this is the place to fill up.

The theme of the night was 'Glitz & Glam' and if you follow Freaky on Facebook (but of course you are!!) then you would see all the pretty pics! The entire event was sophisticatedly constructed by Sinead Lally, Rebecca Casserly (of BecBoop.com), Amber Doyle and Aidan Judge Stylist. All profits were raised for JIGSAW Galway, which offers support for young people aged 15 - 25, and the Brothers of Charity, who aid those with intellectual disabilities. Well Done to all for a fab night :) xx

Now let's skip to present day!

All Fur No Knickers - Strangelove event by Hunt & Gather <3
This Friday the 13th I, Freaky, was partying it up with the followers of Hunt & Gather. They throw some kick ass parties! My friend and I hopped up to Dublin to meet some friends and headed off down the streets to this thing, only one thing = secret venue .. And one problem = we don't know Dublin ...
"And the Lord looked upon them and said, " Lads, Google it?"..
Standing where our maze ended was a smiley fellow, named Sam I think, who led us down some stairs to a basement. I know that sounds a bit creepy but it was cool, there were fairy lights so!? Our names were ticked off the guestlist and we were shoved into a room of burlesque, fancy dress and some serious second-hand smoke. It was BYOB, which I was all for, and up a little flight of stairs to a canopy of blankets, pillows and friendly faces. By the time 3am hit the walls were sweating and the music wasn't getting any quieter so the only option was to dance it :) It was close to 5 before we were asked for the 3rd time to leave and then, with the new friends (shout out to Anna you riot!) we had acquired over the last 5 hours of drunkenness, we made our way to the Breakfast Club (a club that opens at 7am apparently because why must the party end??). After walking a mile and a half, and two comrades lost to over-tiredness (poor Gav and Paddy), we called it quits. I had an hour of sleep on a lovely strangers floor mattress before getting the 8.45 coach back to Limerick so I could go to work like a responsible adult :P

-->> the moral of the story kids, GO TO THE NEXT EVENT!!

A lot of the time it's hard to be a responsible adult when all you want to do is be a dumb kid and stay out all night and watch the sun come up without a care in the world.
Life is difficult, especially at the moment for Freaky. I think this life is moving too fast for little ole me and I want to experience everything!! Making a bucket list and checking it 50 times, so I'm off to London in two weeks for a me-cation with my housemate!

I know I'm completely brutal for the posts guys but if you feel like keeping up with Freaky Smudge, I'm always on Instagram so give me a follow anytime :)
Well that's it from me tonight as I am supposed to be studying but whatever. Later Smudgers!
XOXO

Tonight!!

Tis the season to be jolly (and for nice things) ;) Merry Christmas Smudgers!

It's a wonderful time of the year; there's the Christmas markets (Continental one in Galway), lights and ornaments go up all around the city, and the spectacular window displays in Brown Thomas (Galway, Limerick, Cork and Dublin) go up. And they are beautiful!

What makes your Christmas Smudgers?? 🎄

I know that a lot of colleges and universities were hosting Christmas dinners on campus over the past month, and in little ole LSAD there was a yummy Turkey going around. However, nothing could have been as good as the chicken and mash me and my friends made last night! :) this is something I think everyone should do; get a group of friends, throw on a set amount of bean each, head to aidl (that €3.99 Baron wine is divine!) and cook with the aid of Christmas tunes! 🎊 not only was it great fun but everyone was helping out - we had carrot peelers, potato peelers, chicken stuffers, and me on wine supervision and desert - my gluten free Red Velvet cake and gluten free Nutella cupcakes didn't turn out half bad! Call me Freaky Crocker ^_^

Now onto more serious stuff; last post I was on my way to the Neostrata event on the House Hotel, Galway, where I was pampered with hand peel, told extensively about the Neostrata products and who they cater to, and got some goodies! Let me tell you folks, its brill! ! Using the Neostrata Refine products since the event now, and my makeup stays on longer and feels lighter :) Of course, because my skin is insanely sensitive, I did get a few blemishes due to the change of my daily facial routine but it's all good now. So go get yourself a tester if you feel like your cleanser isn't doing exactly what it says on the tin or you're just in need of a boost!

Life never stops going! Tonight, if you didn't get my tweet (@FreakySmudge), is not only the second Style in the City event, but also the Into the West Blogger Network Christmas Party :) I'm so excited!! Style in the City will be starting at around 7 with a fashion stalls and a fashion show at half 7. Taking place again in the Stock Exchange on Shop Street, Galway. There's no way to miss it as I can imagine there will be a massive queue of people outside! The event tonight is in aid of two charities, Jigsaw Galway & the Brothers of Charity, in association with Aidan Judge Stylist, Cotton Face, BecBoop.ie and the Stock Exchange Bar.

Thee will be pictures so make sure to check out my Facebook page and Tweety account! If any Smudgers find themselves in Galway tonight then you know the only place to be is at Style in the City :) Can't wait to see the itwbn crowd again - it's been too long 💝

Later Smudgers- Freaky's got to get her face on!
XOXO

Wicked

Awh my Smudgers its a fab day when the childhood masterpiece that is "The Fox and The Hound" is on telly in the am:) Unfortunately I'm going to have to go to college in ten minutes and miss the rest! But hey that's life!

Today is very exciting nonetheless because Freaky will be travelling up to Galway tonight for the Neostrata event - cocktails, a hand peel and skin analysis! What an evening! At the last Into The West Blogger Network #itwbn event, we were given complimentary Neostrata products and let me say that my face was so smooth and soft, you could have eaten your dinner off it!

I'll be dolling up tonight but for college, and life, I've taken on a new approach with my fashion style; "Dress Like You're Already Famous" - i-D Magazine quote. So that's what I'm going to do! The latest edition of i-D (which I think everyone should read because it is a fantastic magazine) focused on beauty; what beauty means to people and how it effects them. We all have the potential to be beautiful, it just takes us looking at our own reflection long enough to realise it.

My look today is inspired by the New Jersey clothing line "Gyspy Warrior" (I can't afford their clothes so I've improvised :p ) #gypsywarrior ; I've a brand new choker from Blondedge #chokeblondedge , a black sheer vintage skirt from Cotton Face #cottonface , and an "Up All Night" from Topshop. The shoes are my own D.I.Y. Disco shoes (for more on them flick through my posts). Sorry for the crappy pic Smudgers

Well you'll be hearing more from me tonight!
XOXO
